The obelisk of Governor Lennington Small is the tallest at Mound Grove Cemetery, and is easily visible from the main entrance. Lennington Small (1862-1936) was born in Kankakee County, served as a member of the Illinois State Senate from 1901 to 1903, was Treasure of Illinois from 1905-1907 and 1917-1919, and two-term Governor of Illinois, from 1921 to 1929.1
