The mausoleum stands on high ground on the western edge of the cemetery. From here, one can look southeast across one of several dry creek beds that run through the cemetery. This one passes through a culvert under one of the cemetery's roads; that road leads west (right) to the section with the tank and the concrete and brick entrance sign. Beyond this road are sections with modern monuments. In the distance is the woods where the creeks converge and ultimately load to the Illinois River, about eight miles southeast.
