The corridors lead to a "D"-shaped chamber in the rear. In the round part is
the sarcophagus of the President; along the straight wall, towards the center
of the tomb, are the crypts of Mr. Lincoln's wife and three of their sons.
Edward "Eddie" Baker Lincoln 1846-1850
William "Willie" Wallace Lincoln 1850-1862
"Willie" Lincoln died during his father's presidency. The Lincolns stored
his body in a temporary vault in Washington, intending to take him back to
Springfield with them after the President's retirement. When President
Lincoln was murdered on April 15th, 1865, the funeral train carried both
coffins to Springfield together.
