General John A. Logan was twice elected to the United States Senate, dying in office in 1886. He is buried in Washington D.C., but his name also appears on his parents' monument in Murphysboro City Cemetery.

The author of this web site lives in the Logan Square neighbourhood of Chicago, which is named for Senator Logan.
