This immense mausoleum features pairs of Ionic columns. It has no inscriptions other than the date 1902. Two stone lions guard the west-facing main entrance. A staircase in the back wall leads down to a door that, a few years ago, was always open. Inside is a small and barren cellar, with the stout wooden beams above visibly sagging. The cellar appears to be empty, with no crypts visible |
The mausoleum originally housed the remains of department store owner Ernst J. Lehmann and family. Their bodies were moved to Graceland in 1920, and the mausoleum has been empty ever since. (source: Franzosenbusch Heritage Society). |
