These graves, not far from the main entrance, are covered by a style of
marker known as a ledger - a low, wide stone, usually of marble, that weighs
down the entire grave. The smaller grave in the foreground is that of a
six-year-old child. Strangely, the earth beneath the child's stone has been
removed - an opening can be seen in the ground on the right. By looking
into this hole, one can see the entire length of the grave. The open space
is about three feet deep. The coffin is apparently no longer present.
