Bachelor's Grove Cemetery

This photo, taken by local ghost expert and author Dale Kaczmarek in 1979, shows the sign that once stood over the entrance to Bachelor's Grove. The Fulton monument can be seen in the center; to its right is the Shields monument, before it had been knocked down.

The chain-link fence was erected about 1977, when the Forest Preserve District took over administration of the site. Prior to that, there was no fence at all, and the cemetery was a completely open area at the side of the road.
