St. Johannes |
A short road runs northward from Rest Haven, alongside St Johannes Friedhof (St John's Cemetery), which is to its west. The road terminates at the northern boundary of the cemetery (near the tree at the far right). The road and cemetery are surrounded on all sides but the south with a high chain link fence with barbed wire along the top; behind the fence is a barren area, and another fence. Beyond the fences are the grounds of O'Hare airport, with runways only a few hundred feet away.
On my most recent visit here (May 2002), I observed planes approaching from the west and landing at a rate of about one per minute.
