Bohemian National Cemetery

Eman A. Legros 1850-96
Josie P. Legros 1885-91

These graves, not far from the main entrance, are covered by a style of marker known as a ledger - a low, wide stone, usually of marble, that weighs down the entire grave. The smaller grave in the foreground is that of a six-year-old child. Strangely, the earth beneath the child's stone has been removed - an opening can be seen in the ground on the right. By looking into this hole, one can see the entire length of the grave. The open space is about three feet deep. The coffin is apparently no longer present.
