Bohemian National Cemetery

The Civil War Veterans Memorial was built between 1889 and 1892 by the Grand Army of the Republic at a cost of $5,035. The G.A.R. was a veterans organization founded in Decautur, Illinois in 1866, and is responsible for many of the Civil War memorials found in Chicago's cemeteries.
