Cemetery #1: Anshe Kanesses Israel No.3
These columns were once one of the more prominent entrances to Jewish Waldheim; now they are blocked from the road by a chain-link fence. They stand at the southwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Des Plaines Avenue. The cemetery stretches west for some distance along Roosevelt (indicated by the utility poles) and south along Des Plaines (to the left). This is the corner of Waldheim's West section, which extends further north than the other principal divisions. Behind the photographer is a commercial area with shopping mall and a postal distribution facility. |
